Great Fun.
Question, why does aero wrestle like a forward but want to much to be a back. Does he not know that its cool as fuck in the forwards.

Only one thing, you cant handle the ball when your in a ruck!

Flatfire said...

Yeh I'm cool i used to be a forward and handle in the rucks.

Aero would make a great hooker, with his attitude and hardy quality he could go far.

Everybody okay for H20

See you there at 11.

Saturday will be a big test. Great to have so many training and competing for places.

Pete, if you're Bobby Boucher, does that make Bill coach Klein!?! Never viewed him as "the fonz"......sure he'll like that though!

Maybe it's Spartacus!!

Let's get one thing straight. I'm Spartacus.
Yesterday's game was another one that we should have won, but as Bill said we gave away 4 easy tries when we went to sleep. We have to be more aggressive at the breakdown, keep alert and make the tackles.
I felt also that we let ourselves down a bit when we went out onto the pitch. I was fired up when we did the warm up but after the long walk back to the changing rooms and then back out onto the pitch I felt the fire had gone out. We didn't start well. Perhaps we should stay out and not go back into the changing rooms?
Looking forward to Tuesday. Keep up the effort guys, it's so much better now playing for a team that wants to win. I'm loving it.

Spartacus....even though you may be dead, at least from the neck down, you still speak sense.
The lack of spirit at the start of the game gave Mackie hope and hurt us on the scoreboard. If staying out after the warm-up is the solution then .........try it out!
Good performance on Saturday for 65minutes and if we can get a lineout that provides fast, reliable ball then we have a chance at the 3rd place finish this year!

One game of not coming out to a good start & we have to stop going inside before coming back out again, nonsense, it's up to us to make sure we're ready for the game & pick ourselves up. If we stayed out, all that would happen is that one or two would still have to go back in for the toilet or something they've forgotten or some other reason, which would then split the team up. Think Saturday might've been a case of slightly getting too big for our boots & not mentally preparing for the game like we should & normally do...end result- lesson learnt! I said it first, Im Spartacus, Spartacus isn't really Spartacus, Spartacus has stolen the name Spartacus but I am indeed Spartacus.

I agree with spartaprez, throughout my time playing, there is nothing worse than warming up in the crap conditions while wearing your strip & then going on to play in it, it's always good putting on a clean strip for the start of the game. Think there is a huge element of Saturdays game that was down to lack of mental preparation, recently played some less than average teams that didn't offer any serious opposition, which at some points have maybe made us look better than we are, not taking anything away from the teams performances because they have been good, great at times but, like I've said, against poor opposition.

Saturdays game was not the best rugby I've seen played by the team recently.....don't think it was down to better opposition on Saturday, as quite frankly, didn't think that Mackie were that great!!! Few good moves in the backs but we let them look good!! Not too sure about this, once out staying out bit or go back in for clean strips prior to the game....if you have more than one player in the family, as I do, that's a hell of a lot of washing. Is someone trying to create more business for Billy Bowles? Two questions for me, that still remain unanswered from Saturday are 1. does Owen Hughes have a sore arse after Mr Langlands removed his chair prior to sitting back down and 2. this question is for one of our Social Conveners, when did he & his wife find out that by turning her upside down they could both smack each others bottoms???!!! How did that come about???

The voice of reason said...

Strange things happen through the west involving bottoms!!
On the playing side, going back inside a changing room is fine if there is a purpose and you come out fired up.....we didn't on Saturday. If there is no "rocket up the ar*e" happening in the changing room then there perhaps needs to be. We certainly aren't good enough yet to give teams a free score at the beginning of the game, especially one that you go on to dominate and then lose.

We now have Spartacus....who isn't Spartacus and Spartasuc....who isn't making sense!
What's the world coming too, Kirk Douglas would've been ashamed!!

Rocket! Strips! Wee-Wee's! Team talks!

We will learn and grace the Shanwell speactators with the new breed of Carnoustie men! Who, with the help of a Roman Nose, will smash the mould of the men who once fought and won on the pitch that is no more.

Spartasuc said...

Ha ha, brilliant, the irony from 15 to 1 about me not making sense. Just so everyone knows, due to all this talk about not going back into the changing rooms, I refuse to play for this fashist organisation & will make a stand & deem myself unselectable for the next two Saturdays out of protest. If at any time 15 to 1 would like to take my place, remember to wear lots of pairs of socks because they're far too big a pair of boots for you to fill naturally.

15 to 1 said...

Oh dear, another fragile ego. What can I say, you may have a big pair of boots, however it seems that you are still far too big for them!!

The voice of reason said...

Roman nose has a point. The gauntlet was laid down years ago by the brave men who did battle on the pitch that is no more.
Does the current team have what it takes to surpass them? So far the answer is no, but there is a chance that if they keep progressing the way they have this year (take a look back to the pre-season!), a miracle may happen.
Perhaps Spartasuc and Spartacus are the same person.......dyslexics of the world UNTIE!

Boots fit perfectly, as does the ego. Brave comment despite not knowing who's ego you refer to.

Crikey, so many names & so many opinions...loving it. My personal opinion is that I like going back in for strip & whizz & stuff, think we as a team have to just take it on the chin that we didn't prepare properly & come out with the passion we should of. Totally agree with SpartaSUC & Prez, no other reason than they're picking on 15 to 1...a personal favourite thing of mine. Cant believe Hughes is still maintaining that he hasn't signed up to this, hmmmmm. (& to clear it up for you Mummy, his derier is padded enough to withstand any pain)...You know I'm only being serious.

Just saying like guys, you know, just saying! said...

Actually, can I throw a suggestion in that we dont actually go out to warm up & just go out for the kick off?

Spartacus said...

Spartasuc. You are and will never be Spartacus for I would have not written 'who's ego you refer to'. I would have written 'whose ego to whom you refer' for it is never correct to end a sentence with a preposition or to confuse 'who's' (who is) with whose (belonging to whom). We learnt this at Slave School, you obviously went to Carnoustie High. I AM SPARTACUS!!!

Spartasuc said...

If I felt the need to quote you, I would of chosen to leave the poor defenceless over used apostrophe alone & used the much under used quotation mark instead, perhaps you are one of those annoying people who would rather use their fingers to make silly air quotes while speaking, I am guessing so. Other than the word who's, there is no need to use an apostrophe in any of those sentences, that's how I was taught when I was at school, we may differ though because I was at school in the post slate days of our glorious education system.

Listen to the voice of reason!

To bicker over grammer is not the purpose of this blog. If grammer is your thing then lets start a spelling and grammer club and meet on Monday nights...think of poor Peter on his sick bed.

Any comments on the rugby or can we get back to having a go at just saying or 15 to 1.

this blog sounds just like what happens after the referee gives a penalty on a saturday. WOW . wish you guys could put as much effort into actually playing

Mummy said...

The only way to sort the whole Spartacus identity thing out is for all those claiming to be 'he' to attend the rugby club wearing the little leather skirt number (nothing underneath of course) also supporting the little leather thong.....on the sandals of course! On the grammar front, Kath Jones must be so proud of you lot.......she might just be Spartacus??? If it is you Kath, please ignore the above.

Small Victory

A destructive thought
momentarily entertained
then thrown out on its ear.
A reluctant apology
thrust into the spotlight.
One last cigarette
left out in the cold.

Small victories.

Tiny drops of successful living,
choices well made.
The seeds of pride; polished stones
paving the path to bright future,
a bright now
right now.

Hold these treasures in our hands,
feel the heft of them,
their smooth perfection.

Castles are built of these.

Lets see the men of old, ask to come in.

Friends, Romans, Spartacus (or indeed Spartasuc), lend me your sword. When we start quoting poetry on a rugby club blog.....you know the world has gone mad and it's time to check out!
