What can we say after Saturday. I felt a strange sensation even after 20 minutes that we just had to weather the storm. I really didn't realise that Hawick were as good as they were. It was a masterclass of handling and running. These guys breath rugby. .
Looking at their team they didn't look like they could over power us with strength which they didn't. Their work rate was immense. Our work rate has been satisfactory over the season, but couldn't touch the Linden. They interpreted the referees idea of onside so well(they were offside all match), that our moves were smothered before they could gain any momentum. They probed at the start of the game obvious trying to suss out where they wanted to play the game.
They were superb, although Grant ran through their team and scored a brilliant try a true solo effort which even made Bruce smile with pride.
I went off knackered spent physically and mentally. I'm just a bad tempered old bugger and thought it was better to go off rather than giving the Linden kicker any more practice. I hold my hand up and say I gave away 2 penalties the last one for not letting a player back onto his feet after a tackle. Well it would have been nice if he had made the effort to get up.
To make things even worse we were thrown out of the club because of a function which ended up in a party at my house. Major sore head in the morning. Heather was happy though because I ran out of sausages.
Quote of the day from Neil ''I love to play against border sides'' well I'm glad someone does. Ha ha. He also likes to eat raw seagulls with his balls in a vise. Each to their own.

The better team won on the day......nobody could argue! It's not that we did anything badly, just that they did some better. The pack certainly held their own and if anything shaded it. We didn't do badly in the backs either to be fair. The Linden guys agreed with their inside centre as man-of-match but I have to say I don't. He slung the ball about without managing to make much impact on Grant and Chris. They kicked their points when we were penalised....makes a big difference.
For me it was their back three who really hurt us. They looked likely to score whenever they got the ball going forward, especially from kicks that didn't make touch or turn-over ball.
The effort was there guys for all to see, it really was! There was no discgrace in being beaten by a team who lie a league above and are 12 for 12. The best thing is to use it as a measure and before this turns into an epic I'll just ask one question.
"What would the score have been had we played them at the start of the season?".........Lets be glass half full players and don't underestimate how much you've improved!
