A great result on Saturday.
After many weeks of toil, I really think the front five have a taste of what makes rugby addictive. Running with the ball in hand supporting each other. Its been obvious from the start , that one day it would happen.
It only needs to happen once after that confidence will rise and we will end up with a bunch of try crazy forwards.
Thanks to the backs and back row for being patient.
Winning is addictive. One of the Panmure backs commented to me that he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Swarm after swarm of forwards constantly attacking and defending, it was relentless.
After going off, it was the first time in 10 years that I wanted to go back on. Watching the backs play was a delight. What better way could you spend your Saturday afternoon than wandering up to Shanwell road.
Changing rooms are now open Tuesdays and Thursdays
We turn up on a Saturday to do a job. Remember the others who make it happen. Chris the match and fixture secetary. George, Willie and Rod for setting up the pitches. Stewart for making things happen, from the mundane to the even more mundane. Cath for organisng buses sorting out paperwork etc. Bill for lifting us to a new level.
No doubt I have left someone out.

Ideas
We need to evolve. How does a primarily male club evolve. Getting on with each other only happens when we spend time together. Somtimes that doesn't work out. John Murphy and me years ago were training and he ran past me with a tackle bag. I tipped it as you do. The rest you can work out for yourself hey hey.
We need a night out in Carnoustie, thinking about a theme. What about Dictators, serial killers and friends. I have an outfit already for a certain member, Doctor Lectors get up whilst in transport.
Alec Robertson will be celebrating his 50th birthday soon. To celebrate this fantastic occasion Alec, Gordon and I will be canoeing from the top of loch Tay to the rugby club. Anyone who wants to join us, is more than welcome. We are planning it over a couple of days. Perhaps stopping off at a pub on a night. Then a barbecue at the club. Alec was thinking a Last of the Mohican's image. Dave Christie said ''more like last of the Joey Deacons''. Thanks for that kind comment Dave.
Any thoughts on anything rugby are more than welcome. Remember we are all curators of the club, what we leave for the next generation is up to us. Young lads need something to look up to.

Refreshing
I forgot that sometimes when you play rugby it can be enjoyable (2nd row)
Carnoustie went to Pitlochry (Athol) last Saturday. We won 28-12. Another away victory. That was great news, the best part of the day for me was arriving at the ground to be met by this ancient wooden pavilion. I like that sort of thing. Then looking around we couldn't have wished to be in better surroundings.
We arrived with 15 players, obviously without the luxury of subs. The team played well enough and possibly are learning the art of victory. The line out worked really well. A combination of accurate throwing and well executed jumping. The backs this season have been working off of scraps. Maybe their scrap ration is on the up. Is that a swallow I see, and its not even spring.
Hats off to the front row they had their work cut out and refused to loose. Craig walked off thinking he didn't match his opposite number. This self criticism obviously indicates everything about wanting to improve. In your defense your young and we haven't really had any quality time on the scrummaging machine.
Tony thanks for keeping the 15 going even though you probably needed to go off for the head injury on the park and the lager injury from the night before. Nice try.
Whats ahead on the horizon Panny on Saturday. Lets make up for the last game. Again the sticking record says.
More numbers are needed at training

Here come the girls
Well we all know that on average that girls are smarter than boys.
I think its generally accepted that until the upper echelons of intellengence. girls are vastly supperior to blokes. Until Oppenheimer, John Nash and Berty Einstein come in to the fray perhaps born in the male body but not real men ( They were highly sexed unlike real men LOL). Obsessed with evolution without knowing the end result.
Well after watching the excellent Christmas program with James Martin in the Mille Miglla. A ''nice'' guy obssesed with perhaps the greatest road race in the world. He gets his ''subserviant'' co driver who happens to be a lady to plan the route. He has invested £700,000 in an exotic Italian car. He then witnesses his assitant writing over the dash with a pen. He looks over in dismay and tells her to stop and mentions thats it s not 3500rpm its 4500rpm on the rev counter. 100 miles down the road, the race car is finished. Why because the man does not listen to the lady.
Sometimes we take sport too seriously, Colin Mcrae for me was the ultimate, Heathers
watching. She says well if he is the ultimate why does he have a man next to him telling Colin where to go. I reply he is the navigator, Heather says if he knows where to go why doesn't he drive. Bloody Women.
Its been a long time since we have had a game. Unfortunatley tommorow the pitch is unplayable. Its phyclologicaly tough, training knowing we don't have a game, but we need to make the effort. This is the diffrence between our growing success and choosing the pub team way.
Happy New Year
