Very Beatable

The team talk before the Stobswell game was taken care of .......by Stobswell. This consisted of a blog written by Stobswell claiming that Carnoustie were very beatable! The truth of it is, with Carnoustie not firing on all cylinders & not playing overly attractive rugby, our visitors still weren't in a position to beat anybody, even if they were fully armed with the latest edition of Mayfair & one of my personal favourite films, Don't waste it- Taste it, I doubt they were even good enough to beat themselves. Scrappy game, which is quite good taking full points knowing that we didn't play particularly well & are capable of much much better. There were some handbags at one point which was one of the best bits of teamwork during the game, big-up to our illustrious captain for sticking up for & looking after his men, it's really good to know that he's watching our backs on the park....not so good that he's watching our fronts in the shower. The ref was one of the most consistent that we've had for a long time, he was consistently inconsistent at every available opportunity, giving penalties that weren't penalties & penalising the wrong team when he wasn't sure of what to do, on one occasion I'm sure he was heard telling both teams to run around the posts while he thought what to do next. Due to the ref's 'knowledge' of the laws, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' Neil, in his second game for the club, is in very close competition with Espo & Murph for the amount of penalties conceded, to make it fair on Neil, we're going to count Espo & Murph's last five seasons against Neil's two games. Very good to see the amount of home supporters we had while the weather was not at its best, it's very much appreciated by the players knowing that people are giving up their own time to watch them, when they could be sitting at home watching those amateurs in the Guinness Premiership or Don't waste it- Taste it. At last week's game it was very pleasing to see some TV stars taking a break from filming- Compo, Clegg & Foggy from Last Of The Summer Wine, there to watch us play against Strathspey, wellies 'n' all, thanks Boyd, Jock & Jim (in no particular order)who travelled up by car, thanks to Bill, Gwen & Diane who came on the bus & the bus driver has my vote for clubman of the year for his ability to turn a blind eye, hopefully the team can create some success week in week out, which would encourage more supporters to travel & there could be a supporters bus to games. Big turnouts to training would be a huge benefit to coaches, regular trainers & fellow players & most importantly...yourself. Finally, if anyone's getting annoyed by the constant hounding of membership fees, could we just get around to paying them & then the hounding will stop. Peace!
